I'm a little behind on blogging with the move back to the US. Before our move we had one final hoorah visiting Rome and then went on a Mediterranean Cruise. Cory's family joined us on the trip and we had an amazing time. After spending the summer in London it was nice to experience some true hot weather. I will say I think our bodies had become acclimated to the 60 - 70 degree climate because boy was it hot.
The cruise we choose was a Royal Caribbean cruise that stopped in:
- Sicily, Italy
- Athens, Greece
- Ephesus, Turkey
- Crete, Greece
At our first stop of Sicily the boat stopped in the port town of Messina. Like all great old towns, Messina had a cathedral to visit. This particular cathedral's 'claim to fame' is it's clock. The cathedral has the world's largest astronomical clock. At noon each day the clock's statues illustrate religious and civil history of the town.
From Messina we took a bus about 45 minutes to
visit the town of Taormina, Italy. Toarmina has scenic views of the coast and also has a Greek amphitheatre. We enjoyed walking through the town, visiting the amphitheatre and having a delicious cannoli.
When we got back to Messina, Brady wanted to find a playground. I won't say it was the nicest playground, but we were successful.
Here are some pictures we took from the balcony.
