Next stop was Riga, Latvia. We had zero expectations for this stop, but were pleasantly surprised. It was actually one of our favorite stops closely competing with Stockholm, Sweden for the other top spot.
Why did we like Riga? To us it had more charm and character than your standard issue big city. To be quite honest while all big cities have their particular appeals, a lot of things are the same. People are in a hurry, not very friendly and there is lots of noise and commotion. Riga had lots of history, a charming city center and was very affordable (bonus after our previous stops). And of course it had an old church, government buildings and a few museums.
Three brothers – three different dwellings from different periods within the Middle Ages.
After seeing the city center, we took the local train to Jamala, which is a beach side town about 30 minutes from Riga. Brady loved playing in the sand & water.
Next stop, St. Petersburg, Russia.
