Parking Lot

I got out of the shower this morning to find my bathroom floor had been turned into a car parking lot.  The organization of the cars totally captures Brady's personality.  He can be extremely particular about things and of course in this case there was only one 'correct' way to set up the parking lot.  I can totally see Cory creating a similar setup as a kid! 

Painting the Nursery

We've started the process of decorating the baby's room.  With Brady I feel like we had everything done and ready to go months in advance.  This go around we aren't nearly on top of things.  We have finally started the painting process.  Brady was pretty insistent that he needed to help out.  More pictures to come once things are finished.

Garden Project 2012

I like the concept of a garden.  While living in the UK I loved looking at everyone's garden plots while on the train.  Even people who had very little green space somehow managed to find the space to grow a few things.  Right before we moved home we had lunch at a co-workers house and he had a beautiful garden with lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, you name it.  I was very impressed.  After some reading, we decided we aren't quite ready to commit to a raised bed garden so have decided to start small with a container garden.  This weekend we planted the first phase of our crop and some flowers.  We will probably add a few more things, but as of now we have tomatoes, lettuce, strawberries and some herbs. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to give a progress report that includes something edible.  If we are unsuccessful I am going to blame the bunnies as I'm sure it will have nothing to do with my gardening abilities.

Dentist Appointment

Brady had a dentist appointment today and did fantastic.  On our last trip they just counted his teeth and he got used to sitting in the chair.  This trip he had his teeth cleaned, had x-rays and had a fluoride treatment.  He was extremely cooperative and did great with everything.  Of course his favorite part was getting ice cream at 9am.  I wish my dentist served ice cream!! 

Sports Week

This week Brady's school had sports week.  On the way out he likes to point at the different sports that are pictured on the wall and talk about how he plays that sport. 

Here was our conversation on our way out one day.

Brady, "I play Soccer.  I play baseball.  I play basketball."  Pause, points at a picture of a cheerleader "Mom, that is NOT a sport.  What is it?"  I explain to him that it's cheerleading.  Brady looks at me with a very serious face,  "I will not do that."

So the age old discussion of is cheerleading a sport continues.

Beach & Mini Golf

We spent the second half of our week in Florida in Venice at Cory's parents place.  Brady really wanted to play golf.  He loves mini golf, real golf, golf games on the iPad- basically anything associated with golf.  We went to a mini golf course where in addition to playing golf you could feed alligators.  Brady got a hole in one which resulted in lots of jumping and cheering.   We also made sure to hit up the driving range.  Perhaps we have a future Tiger?  As papa says, he does have the right last name.

We also were able to spend some time at the beach.   I was able to read the entire Hunger Games book on our beach day.  Not my typical type of book, but I enjoyed it.  I think I was so into finishing it I forgot to reapply sunscreen.   It didn't help that half of my body was shaded and the other half under an umbrella.  I still have goofy tan lines.

LegoLand

After fighting the crowds at Disney it was a pleasant surprise to arrive at LegoLand and have a very small crowd.  We went to a LegoLand in Windsor while we were in London and Brady loved it.  When we learned that they recently opened a LegoLand in Winter Haven we knew we had to fit it into our Florida itinerary.  This theme park is perfect for young kids.   There are tons of age appropriate rides, shows and attractions.  If you go when the lines are long they even have lego stations set up in the lines for the kids. 

Cory's mom Ann drove up from Venice and joined us for the day.  You'll be able to tell from the pictures that she was frequently requested as Brady's ride partner.  We had a really nice day at the park.  I think our longest ride wait was 15 minutes for the boat ride.  You can't beat that.
