Omaha Weekend

The kids had today off school so we went to Omaha for a long weekend.  We had a nice time and the kids both did great traveling.  Brady is already asking when we can go back.

Children's Museum:

Ellie's favorite things were the bananas in the pretend grocery store and catching butterflies in the bug exhibit.  She did NOT like the life size bugs at all.  Brady had lots of fun in the ball zone and going through the caterpillar bounce house.

Omaha Zoo:

Brady loved it all, but was particularly excited to go through the Dinosaur Alive exhibit (of course the only not real animal section).  He told us he was not scared of dinosaurs, but there was a bit of hesitation once we got in the dinosaur area.  They were very big and moved when you were least expecting them to.  Brady was holding on to one of our legs any time we got close to a meat eater.  He was a little more laid back when we passed the herbivores.

Ellie's favorite animals are ducks.  She loved the pond with ducks and would have been quite content pointing and saying duck over and over.    

 

 

 

Water Park:

The hotel we stayed at had a small water park that was perfect for the kids.  Ellie really enjoys playing in the water.  She has no problem with getting splashed and water in the face.  Brady had a blast going down the water slides.  He was supposed to be 48 inches to go down the big water slide, but there was not anyone checking so we let him go.  Shhh, don't tell anyone.  I am not typically a rule breaker, but it seemed like a silly rule.

Swimming Lessons

Brady took swimming lessons at the Shawnee Pool again this summer.  He is doing great and has mastered almost everything on the preschool skill list. 

Neighborhood Park

It was a hot evening, but I promised Brady we could walk to the park.

I love his expressions taking pictures with his sister.  I can hear him saying in his head  "why does she like me so much!"

Avengers Tee Ball

Over the summer Brady played tee ball.  Brady's coaches were great with the kids.  Not everyone has the patience to work with fifteen 4 & 5 year olds.   There were quite a few uncomfortably hot games, but I have to remind myself that overall we had a fairly cool summer.  Ellie was a breeze to take to games as a baby, but something happened when she hit one and she decided she was no longer content to sit in my lap.  Baseball games are a mecca for a toddler who loves to pick up and put small tiny objects in their mouth.  Whoever made sunflower seeds the favorite dug-out snack of baseball players should be strangled.  I spent a good chuck of the games retrieving 'treasures' from Ellie's hands.   It was a great season.  Brady enjoyed it so much we're going to play fall coach/machines pitch baseball.

Play Date

One of Brady's best 'girl' friends at Goddard left school at the end of May.  Her mom asked if we could do a play date this summer.  Brady was super excited to have his friend over to the house to play on the water slide.  Brady told me, "She's my girlfriend because she likes to play with the boys and do boy things.  The other girls do girl stuff."  I couldn't get them to look at the camera so this is the best I could get.

Lake Day/Baby Shower

For Niki's baby shower we had a family day at the lake.  Brady wasn't so sure about swimming in a lake ("we swim in pools right mom?"), but once he got in didn't want to leave.   Ellie was quite happy in the kiddie pool, but did take a few dips in the lake (don't tell the ENT as this is against the rules for her tubes).
