Ellie - 5 Months

Ellie is 5 months!

Weight: 14 pounds 8 ounces

Height: 24.5 inches

Other highlights from the past month:

• Sleeping -  She's been going to bed around 8:30pm.  She will sometimes sleep until around 6am, but still wants to eat early in the morning (between 2 - 4am) at least 3 nights a week.
• Favorite activities - Ellie likes rolling around on the floor.  Chewing on toys and her feet.  She enjoys playing peek a boo and having funny faces made at her.
• Dislikes - Taking medicine.  We've had some bad luck with ear infections the past month and Ellie has become a pro at finding ways to not let the medicine go down her throat.
• Notable accomplishments - She rolled over from her back to belly at 4 months 1 day.  She also spins in circles when on her tummy.
•  Eating - She still enjoys milk.  Nothing new on the eating front.
• Other notable activities - Ellie celebrated Halloween and went on her first plane ride.  She also rode in the umbrella stroller for the first time.

KSU vs. OSU

Brady had lots of fun at his first K-State game.   It was a great game and felt much closer than the score.  Brady had lots of fun yelling when OSU had the ball.  He was a great K-State fan until the 4th quarter when he started yelling "Let's go Cowboys"!  Of course he waited till it was quiet and thought it was hilarious!  Thanks to Grandma Barb for watching Ellie!  Yes, it should be me in the photo rather than Cory, but when he saw Willy he grabbed him and ran down to make sure we didn't miss him.

Halloween 2012

We had the chance to participate in numerous fall festivities this year

Brady's school had a festival with games, activities and treats.  I enjoyed the cotton candy.  Brady refused to taste it.  He has no idea what he's missing. 

We also meet up with friends for a hayride and hot dog and marshmallow roast.

Brady and Cory carved pumpkins.  Brady wanted nothing to do with the insides of the pumpkin.  He did not want to get his hands messy.

 

On Halloween evening Brady joined some friends for some treak or treating.  Ellie and I stayed behind and handed out candy.

Brady is 4

Brady is all grown up and a big kid if you ask him.  We celebrated his birthday with a kids party at Mill Creek Activity Center.  There were twelve 3-5 year old boys at the party so it was full of action.

Job when he grows up- "I am already the fruit helper at school."  What about when you grow up?  "Oh, I'll go to Kentucky like my Daddy."

On the Move

At 4 months and 1 day Ellie has decided she is not content staying in one place.  We now have a roller on our hands.  She rolled from her tummy to her back very early, but it was more of a uncoordinated flop.  Now she can go both directions gracefully.  On several occasions we have found her off of her blanket.  I was really hoping to enjoy the immobile phase a little longer.  I was thinking this seemed early to be doing this so I checked Brady's baby calendar and he was right at 5 months when he rolled both ways.  He was also an early tummy to back flopper.  All I can think about is how many toys Brady has that have tiny pieces.  He is not the best at keeping them picked up so we now have new motivation to work on that.

Other highlights from the past month:

• Sleeping -  About the same as last month.  She still wakes up a couple times a week in the middle of the night to eat.  She has started going to bed a little earlier and is usually down before 9pm.
• Favorite activities - Ellie is much more interested in objects.  She likes holding toys, things that make music, eating her fists and looking at people.
• Dislikes - Nothing in particular this month.
• Notable accomplishments - Grabbing things, reaching for her feet.
• Eating - She still enjoys milk.  We will probably hold off on starting any solids until close to 6 months.
• Other notable activities - Ellie took a trip to Chicago and attended her first wedding.

Niki & Drew's Wedding

My cousin Niki got married this past weekend in Wichita.  We were very happy to welcome Drew to the family.  We had a nice weekend of wedding festivities.  The only negative was Ellie wasn't feeling very well.  Grayson and Brady had a blast and were both exhausted by the end of the weekend.  The picture of Brady running on the dance floor pretty much sums up the weekend.  Congrats to Niki & Drew.  I hope they are having a great time in Tahiti.
