Traumatic Incident

Ellie's daily report from school kept saying 'tried' in the diaper section and I didn't really think much of it.  Who in their right mind would attempt to potty train 18 months - 2 year olds?  One day we had a report that came home that said "potty".  I asked her teacher about it and sure enough they take all the kids to sit on the potty twice a day for practice and Ellie will occasionally go.   How did I miss the memo that her classroom takes the kids potty?  Just for kicks I pulled out the training potty and set it in her bathroom for her to sit on.  Disclaimer, I am not even close to being ready for this.  I think diapers are easier to deal with and will happily pay the couple dollars a day that diapers cost.   Ellie was very smiley and happy to sit on the potty.  She's very good at saying potty and poo-poo.  She kept reaching down in the potty so I told her she was done and picked her up to take a bath.  Ellie burst into tears and was really upset.  Suddenly I realized she had gone poop and it was on her hands, on the floor and thankfully some had managed to stay in the potty.  Oh my goodness, my 19 month old is using the potty. The experience was a bit traumatic for us both so for now the potty has returned to the closet.

Harlem Globetrotters

This weekend we went to the Harlem Globetrotters.  Brady thought they were really funny and watched contently the entire 'game'.   I decided the humor was geared towards boys as Cory and Brady were both cracking up at the same things.   I am happy to report that the Globetrotters snuck out a win in a very close game.  Ellie enjoyed the pre-game music, but wasn't as entertained by the basketball.  She sat fairly still, but needed to go exploring the second half.  Her favorite part was the Price Chopper advertisement that had large cheese, crackers and fruit.

Staycation

I bought a night stay and tickets to Legoland and SeaLife through a fundraising auction for our company's foundation.  We had lots of fun playing at LegoLand, seeing the fish, and visiting the trains at Union Station.  At LegoLand we learned that Ellie has no fear as she already mastered the tunnel slide.  Brady who I would not consider a cautious kid by any means had a thing about tunnel slides and didn't go down one until he was almost 4.  She climbed up the cushioned stairs (while another mom kept making comments about the baby being in the slide eluding to it not being safe) and went right down.  After she went down once she wanted to go over and over.  I think she went down the slide 20 times.  It wasn't a huge slide, but I was still impressed.   The weekend stay also reminded us the importance of staying only in hotels with two separate rooms.   I don't think any one slept well.  Brady was still recovering from a cough so that didn't help.

Park in January

It has been miserably cold.  This weekend's weather was a welcome change.  Unfortunately shortly after taking these pics Brady feel victim to a stomach bug.  Hurry up spring!!

Lovies and Babies

Ellie can't get enough of her lovies and babies.   She is our little hoarder and below is proof.  In the top pic you'll also notice that she loves licking her lips and face.  Poor thing constantly has a rash as she won't stop licking.
